These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of YouMadeaWay.org and related content, programs, Community Conversations, fundraising activities, communications, forms, events, and services offered by You Made a Way.


“You Made a Way,” “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to You Made a Way. “Website” refers to YouMadeaWay.org.


By accessing the Website, submitting a form, registering for an event, making a donation, participating in a program, subscribing to communications, or otherwise interacting with You Made a Way, you agree to these Terms and the YouMadeaWay.org Privacy Policy.


If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Website.


1. About You Made a Way


You Made a Way is a nonprofit organization whose mission includes supporting women leaving coercive control when it turns financial.

 

Our activities may include:

  • Education;

  • Community outreach;

  • Community Conversations;

  • Public awareness;

  • Survivor-informed resources;

  • Research and policy engagement;

  • Community partnerships;

  • Fundraising;

  • Resource navigation where available;

  • Charitable programs; and

  • Other mission-aligned initiatives.

 

The availability, scope, eligibility, location, and funding of particular programs may change.

 

2. Eligibility


You must be at least 18 years old and legally capable of providing consent to:

  • Make a donation;

  • Register for an adult program;

  • Submit a partnership request;

  • Volunteer;

  • Enter into an agreement; or

  • Provide personal information requiring adult consent.

 

The Website is not directed to children under 13.

 

Parents and guardians should avoid submitting unnecessary identifying information about children.

 

3. Educational and Charitable Purpose


The Website and our programs provide general education, charitable programming, community engagement, research, advocacy, and public-awareness resources.

 

Information may address:

  • Coercive control;

  • Domestic abuse;

  • Financial abuse;

  • Economic destabilization;

  • Family-court experiences;

  • Community response;

  • Institutional practices;

  • Survivor experiences;

  • Resource navigation; and

  • Related social and policy issues.

 

Information is not individualized legal, medical, mental-health, financial, tax, or crisis advice.


4. Meaning of “Support”


Our mission describes You Made a Way as supporting women leaving coercive control when it turns financial.

 

The nature of that support depends on the programs, funding, partnerships, eligibility requirements, staffing, and resources available at a particular time.

 

Unless we expressly agree otherwise in writing, “support” does not mean or guarantee:

  • Legal representation;

  • Payment of legal fees;

  • Financial assistance;

  • Emergency funds;

  • Therapy;

  • Medical care;

  • Crisis intervention;

  • Emergency shelter;

  • Housing placement;

  • Law-enforcement assistance;

  • Court advocacy;

  • Case management;

  • Document preparation;

  • Transportation;

  • Childcare;

  • A professional referral;

  • Acceptance into a program; or

  • A particular personal, legal, or financial outcome.

 

You Made a Way may provide educational information or resource navigation without assuming responsibility for a person’s decisions, safety plan, legal case, financial circumstances, or relationship with a third-party provider.


5. No Legal Services or Attorney-Client Relationship


You Made a Way is not a law firm.


Nothing provided through the Website, Community Conversations, programs, educational materials, email, forms, social media, or other communications constitutes legal advice or legal representation.


No attorney-client relationship is created with You Made a Way, Crystal Fedeli, a volunteer, a community partner, a speaker, or a participating attorney merely because you:

  • Use the Website;

  • Attend a Community Conversation;

  • Submit a form;

  • Receive general information;

  • Receive a resource;

  • Communicate with the organization; or

  • Participate in an educational program.

 

If an independent attorney participates in a program, that attorney’s relationship with a participant, if any, must be separately established directly with the attorney.

 

You Made a Way does not guarantee that an attorney will accept a participant as a client.


6. No Medical, Mental-Health, Financial, Accounting, or Tax Services


You Made a Way does not provide medical treatment, mental-health diagnosis, psychotherapy, financial planning, investment advice, accounting services, or tax advice.

 

Participation does not create a doctor-patient, therapist-client, fiduciary, accountant-client, or financial-adviser relationship.

7. Not an Emergency or Crisis Service


YouMadeaWay.org is not an emergency service, crisis hotline, law-enforcement agency, shelter-placement service, medical provider, or continuously monitored communication channel.

 

Do not use Website forms, email, direct messages, comments, or event registration to report an emergency or request immediate protection.

 

If you or another person may be in immediate danger, contact 911 or the appropriate emergency service in your location.

 

Because a person using the Website may be subject to surveillance or monitoring, visitors should consider their own digital safety when accessing abuse-related content, email, forms, calendars, social media, or donation records.

 

8. Requests for Assistance and Program Participation

 

Submitting an inquiry, request, intake form, registration, or application does not guarantee:

  • A response within a particular time;

  • Individual assistance;

  • Acceptance into a program;

  • Financial assistance;

  • Legal services;

  • A referral;

  • A successful referral;

  • Continued services;

  • Confidential or privileged treatment; or

  • A particular outcome.

 

Programs may be limited by:

  • Funding;

  • Geographic area;

  • Eligibility requirements;

  • Organizational capacity;

  • Staffing;

  • Volunteer availability;

  • Partner availability;

  • Safety considerations;

  • Program scope;

  • Legal restrictions;

  • Mission alignment; and

  • Other operational factors.

 

We may accept, decline, pause, limit, or discontinue a request when reasonably necessary.

 

9. Community Conversations


You Made a Way may organize or participate in Community Conversations, which are educational and fundraising events intended to raise awareness, engage communities, support our charitable mission, and generate financial support for the organization.

 

Community Conversations may include:

  • Presentations;

  • Moderated discussions;

  • Question-and-answer sessions;

  • Guest speakers;

  • Survivor-informed education;

  • Research or policy discussion;

  • Community partnership information;

  • Donation opportunities; and

  • Other mission-aligned activities.

 

Attendance does not create an individualized professional relationship.

 

General questions may be addressed, but speakers and facilitators are not required to provide individualized legal, therapeutic, financial, or safety advice.

 

Participant Conduct


Participants must not:

  • Record an event without authorization;

  • Photograph or identify another participant without consent;

  • Share another participant’s private information;

  • Harass, threaten, intimidate, or target another participant;

  • Disrupt the event;

  • Solicit clients or customers without permission;

  • Use information to retaliate against or monitor a survivor; or

  • Disregard reasonable instructions from organizers.

 

We may remove or exclude a participant when conduct creates a safety, privacy, legal, reputational, or operational concern.

 

Removal for misconduct does not create a right to a refund of any event-related payment.

 

10. Donations


Donations made through YouMadeaWay.org support the charitable mission and activities of You Made a Way.

 

Unless a donation opportunity expressly states otherwise and You Made a Way formally accepts a binding restriction in writing, donations may be used where the organization determines funds are most needed to further its charitable mission.

 

A donor’s stated preference may be considered but does not create a binding restriction unless accepted by an authorized representative of You Made a Way in writing.

 

11. Donation Tax Treatment


You Made a Way is recognized as tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

 

Donations may be tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.

 

You Made a Way does not provide tax advice or guarantee the deductibility of a payment.

 

Donors are responsible for consulting their own tax professionals and retaining donation receipts and acknowledgments.

 

When a donor receives goods or services in connection with a payment, only the portion exceeding the fair-market value of those goods or services may qualify as a charitable contribution.

 

12. Donation Receipts and Acknowledgments


You Made a Way may provide transaction receipts and charitable-contribution acknowledgments electronically.

 

The donor is responsible for providing an accurate email address and retaining the acknowledgment.

 

Additional information may be provided when required by applicable tax law or when a payment includes goods or services provided in return.

 

13. Donations Are Final


Donations are final and nonrefundable, except where otherwise required by law or where You Made a Way elects to correct a duplicate charge, processing error, or unauthorized transaction.

 

Requests concerning duplicate, erroneous, or unauthorized transactions should be submitted promptly to:

You Made a Way may request information reasonably necessary to verify the transaction.


14. Recurring Donations


If recurring donations are offered, the donor authorizes the applicable payment processor to charge the selected payment method at the disclosed frequency until the recurring authorization is ended.


A donor may end future recurring charges through the method made available by the payment processor or by contacting us.


Ending future recurring charges does not require a refund of donations already processed.

 

Requests should be submitted with sufficient time before the next scheduled charge. We do not guarantee that a request submitted after a charge has entered processing can stop that charge.

 

15. Community Conversation Payments and Sponsorships


A payment connected to a Community Conversation may be structured as:

  • A donation;

  • A sponsorship;

  • An event registration fee;

  • A payment for goods or services;

  • A payment partly in exchange for goods or services and partly as a charitable contribution; or

  • Another arrangement expressly described at the time of payment.

 

The payment page, receipt, sponsorship agreement, or event materials will determine the nature of the payment.

 

No payment should be assumed to be fully tax-deductible merely because it benefits You Made a Way.

 

Sponsorships may be governed by a separate written agreement covering recognition, promotional rights, event access, branding, and deliverables.

 

16. Event Registration, Refunds, Cancellations, and Rescheduling


Unless otherwise expressly stated in writing:

  • Event registrations and other payments are final and nonrefundable;

  • A participant does not have a contractual right to cancel after registering;

  • Failure to attend does not create a right to a refund, credit, or replacement event; and

  • Rescheduling or transfer to another event is permitted only at the sole discretion of You Made a Way and is not guaranteed.

 

Nothing in this section limits a nonwaivable right required by applicable law.

 

If You Made a Way cancels a paid event and does not offer a reasonable replacement or rescheduled date, its responsibility will ordinarily be limited to refunding the amount paid for the canceled registration.

 

Donations remain governed by the separate donation provisions above.


17. Volunteers and Partners


Submitting a volunteer, partnership, sponsor, speaker, attorney, research, or community inquiry does not create a relationship or obligation.

 

You Made a Way may screen, accept, decline, limit, or end volunteer and partnership relationships based on:

  • Mission alignment;

  • Qualifications;

  • Capacity;

  • Safety;

  • Conflicts of interest;

  • Conduct;

  • Funding;

  • Legal requirements; and

  • Organizational needs.

 

Volunteers and partners are not authorized to bind You Made a Way unless expressly authorized in writing.

 

18. Independent Third-Party Providers


You Made a Way may identify or collaborate with attorneys, service providers, nonprofits, researchers, community organizations, financial institutions, or other third parties.

 

Unless expressly stated otherwise:

  • Third parties are independent;

  • You Made a Way does not supervise their professional judgment;

  • A listing or introduction is not a guarantee or endorsement;

  • You Made a Way does not guarantee availability or acceptance;

  • The third party determines whether to form a relationship with a participant; and

  • You Made a Way is not responsible for third-party services, fees, advice, conduct, security, privacy, or results.

 

Participants are responsible for evaluating providers and entering into any agreement directly with them.

 

19. Social Media and Digital Platforms


You Made a Way may share content through the handle @CrystalFedeli and through platforms including, without limitation:

  • TikTok;

  • YouTube;

  • Spotify;

  • Apple Podcasts;

  • Pinterest;

  • LinkedIn;

  • Instagram;

  • Facebook;

  • Threads; and

  • Other social, audio, video, or media platforms.

 

These platforms have independent terms, privacy policies, moderation practices, and data-collection systems.

 

You Made a Way is not responsible for platform conduct, data collection, comments, impersonation, technical failures, content removal, or account restrictions.

 

A social-media communication does not create a confidential or professional relationship.


20. Survivor Stories and Personal Accounts


The Website or related programs may include survivor stories, interviews, testimonials, personal accounts, guest statements, or case-related commentary.

 

Unless expressly stated:

  • Statements reflect the speaker’s or contributor’s account;

  • You Made a Way does not represent that every statement has been independently verified;

  • Publication is not a legal adjudication;

  • Publication does not establish that another person committed a crime or civil wrong;

  • Publication is not a professional diagnosis; and

  • Guest views do not necessarily represent the organization’s views.

 

Separate consent, release, recording, or publication agreements may apply.


21. User Submissions


You may submit inquiries, applications, stories, testimonials, photographs, documents, recordings, comments, partnership materials, or other content (“Submissions”).

 

Submission does not guarantee:

  • A response;

  • Services;

  • Publication;

  • Acceptance into a program;

  • Compensation;

  • Confidentiality;

  • Return of materials; or

  • A continuing relationship.

 

You represent that:

  • You have the authority to submit the material;

  • It is accurate to the best of your knowledge;

  • It does not violate another person’s rights;

  • It does not unlawfully disclose sealed, privileged, confidential, or protected information;

  • It does not contain malicious code;

  • It is not submitted for harassment, retaliation, impersonation, or surveillance; and

  • Necessary permissions have been obtained.

 

Do not submit Social Security numbers, full financial-account numbers, passwords, detailed medical records, unredacted information about children, or other highly sensitive information unless expressly requested through an approved process.

 

Private intake information will not be publicly published merely because it was submitted.

 

When material is knowingly submitted and authorized for publication or promotional use, you grant You Made a Way a nonexclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to edit, reproduce, publish, distribute, display, promote, and archive it for the authorized purpose, unless a separate written agreement provides otherwise.

 

22. Confidentiality and Privilege


You Made a Way will use reasonable care in handling nonpublic information.

 

However:

  • Communications are not protected by attorney-client privilege;

  • Communications are not protected by therapist-client or doctor-patient privilege;

  • Absolute confidentiality cannot be guaranteed;

  • Information may pass through third-party systems;

  • Information may be disclosed when required by law;

  • Information may be disclosed to address a serious safety concern; and

  • Information may be disclosed as otherwise described in the Privacy Policy.

 

Do not use ordinary email, social-media messages, calendar invitations, or general forms for unnecessary sensitive information.

 

23. Intellectual Property


Unless otherwise stated, the Website and original materials created or owned by You Made a Way—including educational content, program materials, event materials, research, graphics, videos, recordings, downloads, branding, and publications—are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws.

 

You may use publicly available content for personal, lawful, noncommercial purposes.

 

Without written permission, you may not:

  • Republish substantial portions;

  • Sell or commercially exploit materials;

  • Record or redistribute events;

  • Remove attribution or proprietary notices;

  • Present our work as your own;

  • Use our name or logo to imply endorsement;

  • Create competing commercial materials from our content;

  • Upload private, paid, or restricted materials to shared databases or artificial-intelligence systems; or

  • Use private or paid materials outside their authorized purpose.

 

Nothing in these Terms limits lawful fair use or other nonwaivable rights.

 

24. Prohibited Uses


You may not use the Website, programs, resources, forms, events, or communications to:

  • Violate applicable law;

  • Harass, threaten, stalk, exploit, or impersonate another person;

  • Retaliate against or monitor a survivor;

  • Facilitate abuse, coercion, intimidation, or surveillance;

  • Collect information about participants without authorization;

  • Submit knowingly false or misleading information;

  • Gain unauthorized access to systems;

  • Introduce malicious code;

  • Circumvent donation, registration, access, or security controls;

  • Infringe another person’s rights;

  • Disrupt an event or program;

  • Misrepresent affiliation with You Made a Way; or

  • Use the organization’s work for an unlawful purpose.

 

We may restrict access or participation where we reasonably believe a safety, legal, privacy, security, mission, reputational, or operational risk exists.

 

25. No Guaranteed Results


You Made a Way does not guarantee:

  • Personal safety;

  • Legal outcomes;

  • Financial recovery;

  • Court relief;

  • Housing;

  • Employment;

  • Program acceptance;

  • Funding;

  • Referral placement;

  • Service availability;

  • Relationship outcomes;

  • Institutional change; or

  • Any other particular result.

 

Testimonials and personal accounts reflect individual experiences and are not promises of comparable results.

 

26. Third-Party Links and Services


The Website may use or link to:

  • Wix;

  • Google;

  • Payment processors;

  • Calendar and scheduling tools;

  • Email services;

  • Social-media platforms;

  • Podcast platforms;

  • Video providers;

  • Analytics services;

  • Community partners; and

  • Outside resources.

 

You Made a Way does not control and is not responsible for third-party content, terms, privacy practices, availability, conduct, services, or security.

 

27. Website and Program Availability
 

We may modify, suspend, remove, restrict, or discontinue Website content, programs, forms, donation opportunities, events, eligibility requirements, or services at any time.

 

We do not guarantee uninterrupted, error-free, current, complete, or secure Website access.

 

28. Disclaimer of Warranties


TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE WEBSITE, CONTENT, PROGRAMS, EVENTS, AND RESOURCES ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.”

 

YOU MADE A WAY DISCLAIMS EXPRESS AND IMPLIED WARRANTIES, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, ACCURACY, NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND RESULTS.

 

Some jurisdictions do not permit certain warranty exclusions, so some exclusions may not apply.

 

29. Limitation of Liability


TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, YOU MADE A WAY AND ITS DIRECTORS, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, CONTRACTORS, VOLUNTEERS, SPEAKERS, CONTRIBUTORS, AND AGENTS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO THE WEBSITE, PROGRAMS, CONTENT, EVENTS, REFERRALS, THIRD-PARTY SERVICES, OR RELIANCE ON GENERAL INFORMATION.

 

Where liability cannot lawfully be excluded, liability will be limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.

 

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited.


30. Indemnification


To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless You Made a Way and its directors, officers, employees, contractors, volunteers, contributors, and agents from third-party claims, losses, liabilities, damages, and reasonable expenses arising from:

  • Your unlawful use of the Website or programs;

  • Your material violation of these Terms;

  • Your Submission;

  • Your infringement of another person’s rights; or

  • Your misuse of participant information.

 

This provision does not require indemnification where prohibited by law.


31. Relationship to Crystal Fedeli Collective LLC


You Made a Way and Crystal Fedeli Collective LLC are separate legal entities.

 

A donation to You Made a Way is not payment to Crystal Fedeli Collective LLC.


A payment to Crystal Fedeli Collective LLC is not a donation to You Made a Way unless expressly identified and processed as such.

 

An interaction with one entity does not automatically create a relationship with the other.

 

32. Governing Law and Venue

 

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

 

Subject to nonwaivable rights, legal proceedings relating to these Terms or the Website must be brought in a court of competent jurisdiction in New Jersey.

 

33. Changes to These Terms


We may update these Terms periodically.


The “Last Updated” date identifies the latest revision.


Continued use of the Website after revised Terms become effective constitutes acceptance to the extent permitted by law.


34. Severability and Waiver


If any provision is found invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain effective.


Failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of the right to enforce it later.


35. Entire Agreement


These Terms, the YouMadeaWay.org Privacy Policy, and any applicable separate written agreement govern your use of the Website and relevant programs.
